In a world completely run by data, we may feel like we have no more choice in the matter, and that we just have to except it is what it is. However, Dean Shapero thought there had to be a better way. It wasn’t about blocking our data, but realizing that if someone was going to take it, we may as well get paid for it. 

With that idea, Loginhood was born. Loginhood is a Chrome Extension that allows you to get paid for the data that companies are already taking. We talked to Dean in this episode about where the idea came from, the ins and outs of the extension, and what we need to know when it comes to giving up our data.

Dean is a data-privacy advocate, entrepreneur and founder of Loginhood - a servince enabling individuals to be paid for their data. He has a deep background in data-driven advertising and has seen first-hand the vast amount of information collected on individuals, completely unbeknownst the them. Dean is from New Jersey and attended school at Elon University, a media-focused college in North Carolina. Previously, Dean started an advertising technology software company, a data division at Rodale, Inc. and was most recently at Hearst Magazines focusing on various data solutions.
